2017 Comes To An End

Wow, what a season!!

With 2 new teams, a refreshed Over 35s and the returning champions in the AAC the club experienced one of the most enjoyable seasons in a long time. It all came to an end on Friday night at the Presentation Night held at South Hurstville RSL.

We also wish to thank Craig Kiely, General Manager, St George Football Association for joining us at the Presentation Night to present several awards. Dolls Point Football Club certainly appreciate the leadership and support from Craig to not only develop the Association but also each of the individual clubs. Thank you again Craig. Congratulations must also go to 3 Dolls Point Football Club members who won individual awards at the recent St George Football Association Gold Medal Dinner. Firstly, to Bushy Pillay as DPFC's Club Man of the Year. Thanks Bushy.

Karen Saavedra, from the Premier League Women's team (aka Dollies) for winning the Golden Boot as the leading goal scorer for the competition. Congratulations Karen.

Finally, to Ross Gardner for receiving the Gold Medal for his significant contribution to not only our club, but also to St George and Football NSW. This is a momentous award and rightfully acknowledges Ross' contribution to the game at grass roots level.

Started with Sans Souci as a 6 year old in 1958.

Ross has been instrumental in the development of football in the St George area and has lived and breathed the round ball game where he has held positions as a committee member of Dolls Point Soccer Club for 25 years as well holding the positions of Delegate, Auditor, Secretary and President of St George Association. As well as a playing career that included Sans Souci, Dolls Point and St George Budapest. He was also instrumental in kicking off 6-a-side football in St George. Introduced Aytec Genc as Coaching Director to SGFA.

Ross has also been a Delegate for the Football NSW Premier League Committee, Super League Committee and Competitions review as well as coaching various juniors at local and representative level.

He has been recognised with life membership as a result of his contributions to SGFA, Sans Souci and Dolls Point Football Clubs.

In 2013 he was awarded with the Distinguished Long Service honour as well as the Charles Valentine award for his contribution to both Representative and Association football.

A number of awards were handed out at the DPFC Presentation Night. However, the occasion was used to make a special acknowledgement to Russell Dennis for his immense contribution to the Club. Russell was awarded Life Membership of Dolls Point Football Club. Congratulations Russ.
